With the Western Black Sea tour, you embark on a journey to discover one of Turkey's most untouched and stunning geographies. Throughout this enjoyable journey starting from Istanbul, lush forests, waterfalls, historic towns, and bays where blue meets green accompany you. This program, focused on both nature and culture, allows you to feel the spirit of the region in a short time.
Safranbolu Old Bazaar
Hıdırlık Hill
Kaymakamlar Observation House
Tokatlı Canyon and Crystal Terrace
Yörük Village
In Safranbolu, which is on the UNESCO World Heritage list, you will see the finest examples of Ottoman architecture and listen to the stories of historic mansions while wandering through narrow streets. While watching the view on the crystal terrace built over Tokatlı Canyon, you will feel both adrenaline and admiration at the same time. In Yörük Village, stone houses, wooden doors, and the simplicity of village life present a window to the past.
Amasra Castle
Craftsmen's Bazaar
Amasra Beach and Harbor
Gideros Bay
Cide Coast
In Amasra, the pearl of the Black Sea, you will spend a day integrated with the sea. You can see both bays simultaneously from the castle walls and capture mesmerizing landscapes during photo breaks. At the Craftsmen's Bazaar, you will encounter handmade wooden souvenirs, copper craftsmanship, and traditional products. The natural beaches where the sea and forest intertwine await you around Gideros Bay and Cide.
Efteni Lake
Güzeldere Waterfall
Samandere Waterfall
Abant Lake
Gölcük Nature Park
A section awaits you around Düzce and Bolu, where you will find yourself in nature among waterfalls and lakes. You will find an ideal environment for photography, nature walks, and relaxation with wooden walking platforms, forest trails, and free time by the lakeside. In Abant and Gölcük, you can sip your tea against the backdrop of the lake view, and those who wish can take short walks around the lake.
The Western Black Sea tour is a program enriched with comfortable transportation, guided narrations, and the unique flavors of the region. You will have the opportunity to taste many local delicacies, from saffron sweets to Black Sea pide, fresh fish to highland products. If you want to escape the stress of city life and connect with every shade of green while having a getaway full of both culture and nature, this tour is just for you.
The tour program generally covers multiple cities and natural beauties of the Western Black Sea (Amasra, Safranbolu, Kastamonu, etc.); it is recommended to review the detailed itinerary and accommodation options in advance: Since Western Black Sea tours plan many stops and activities in a short time, knowing which day you will be in which city and how much free time you will have will help you organize your plan more comfortably. Examining the location of the accommodation hotel, room types, and offered amenities in advance will help you make a more informed choice by comparing your expectations with the tour program. The climate of the Western Black Sea can be rainy and cool, so you should bring a raincoat, waterproof shoes, and seasonally appropriate warm clothing: The region has a climate that can encounter sudden rains and cool winds, especially in the spring and autumn; therefore, it is important to have protective clothing to avoid being caught unprepared. With a raincoat and waterproof shoes, you can maintain your comfort and health both during nature walks and city tours. Since the tour may involve walking, climbing stairs, and light trekking on forest/waterfall trails, it is advisable to wear comfortable sports shoes and loose clothing: As you may need to stand for long periods in historical streets, hilly paths, and nature trails, traveling in flexible and non-constricting shoes provides significant advantages. Choosing clothing that does not restrict movement, is breathable, and dries quickly helps you feel more comfortable during all-day activities. You should definitely check what is included in the tour price (transportation, accommodation, breakfast/dinner, entrance fees for museums and heritage sites, boat tours, etc.) and what extra expenses may arise: The services included by each tour company may vary; therefore, it is important to read the contract and program details carefully to avoid unexpected costs later. Knowing whether items such as boat tours, lunches, museum entrances, and personal expenses are charged will allow you to plan your budget accurately. Before the tour, organizational information such as the meeting place and time, return time, type of vehicle (bus/minibus), and seating arrangement should be clarified, and identification and necessary documents should be on hand: To avoid any confusion on the tour day, it is important to confirm the departure point and time in advance and to be there at least 10-15 minutes early. Having your ID and any reservation/confirmation documents handy facilitates faster and smoother check-in at the hotel and with the guide. Since there are opportunities to shop for local delicacies (fish, butter-based dishes, Safranbolu delights, etc.) and handicrafts during free times in the region, budget planning should be done considering cash or card usage: Especially in towns with small merchants, credit cards may not be accepted everywhere, so it is useful to carry a certain amount of cash. Since you may want to taste local products and buy souvenir delights and handicraft items, it is wise to set a rough shopping budget in advance to avoid regrets or unnecessary expenses later.
DAY 1 / MAY 28, 2026 / GİRESUN-ORDU DEPARTURE
Dear participants,
We will meet at 19:00 in Giresun, Atapark, and at 20:00 in Ordu, at the Russian Bazaar and Old Bus Station, and we will begin our journey.
Day 2 / ZONGULDAK - TRAIN JOURNEY - SAFRANBOLU
In the morning, we are in Zonguldak, having our breakfast (extra). After breakfast, our first stop is Zonguldak Lighthouse. Here, we will enjoy the view of the beach from the observation terrace and take in the scenery. Then, we set our course towards the approximately 600-meter-long Fener Tunnel (Varagel Tunnel), built for industrial purposes. Located in the center of Zonguldak, this tunnel has a seventy-five-year history, and we complete our walk through the city's natural heritage, then head to Gökgöl Cave. Gökgöl, located in the Üzülmez area of Zonguldak, is an active stalactite cave, measuring 3350 meters in length, making it the tenth longest cave in Turkey. After taking plenty of photographs, our next stop will be Zonguldak TCDD Station. At 11:30 AM, we board the Green Train for a three-hour journey between Zonguldak and Karabük, arriving at Karabük Train Station at 2:40 PM. We meet our vehicle and continue to Safranbolu, which was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1994. In Safranbolu, we walk down to the old bazaar and visit the Leather Sellers, Textile Sellers, Coppersmiths Bazaar, Köprülü Mehmet Paşa Mosque, Kaymakamlar Mansion, Sundial, and the oldest inn in the historic town, Cincihan, before retrieving our belongings from the vehicle and checking into our hotel. Accommodation and dinner at REST BY DEDEMAN HOTEL KARABÜK.
3rd DAY / MAY 30, 2026 / GÜZELCE HİSAR LAV COLUMNS - AMASRA
After breakfast at our hotel, we are heading to the Safranbolu Lokumcu to taste and see how Safranbolu Delight is made. We complete our lokum shopping, and with our minibuses waiting for us in Bartın, we are setting off for Güzelce Hisar Lav Columns and Beach. The Lav Columns, which can also be seen in Iceland, Northern Ireland, Scotland, and California in the USA, were formed approximately 80 million years ago as a result of lava cooling and crystallizing from volcanoes. We are exploring the area of the Lav Columns, which are organized with a wooden walking path over the sea, a pier, a walking platform on the island, and a viewing terrace. Then we continue with Amasra. Founded 3000 years ago by Persian Queen Amastris and named by Fatih Sultan Mehmet as “Çeşm-i Cihan bu mu ola”, in Amasra we are visiting the walls surrounding the city streets and seeing Kemer Bridge, Kilise Mosque, and Çekiciler Bazaar with our guide. After our tours, we have our lunch consisting of the famous Amasra Salad and Fish. After the meal, according to the weather conditions, we are participating in the Amasra Boat Tour. (Extra) It will last approximately 45 minutes, and after completing our boat tour where we will view Amasra from the sea, we have free time for shopping in the Tahtacılar Bazaar for local handicrafts. After this, we begin our return journey. We drop you off at the points we picked you up from in the morning, and we say goodbye until we meet again on another PİKOLA TOUR trip...
