July 2 - 5 From the North to the East of Anatolia
After our breakfast, we head to the Ani Harabeleri in Kars , located at the very edge of our country, right on the Armenian border. We visit the walls, gates, the Church of the Holy Apostles, the Church of Saint Pirkitch, the Menuçehr Mosque, and the Silk Road Bridge in Ani, the largest and richest city in the region a thousand years ago, and complete our tour of Ani by overlooking the Arpaçay, which forms the border between the two countries. We continue our journey via Digor. If you look carefully at Halıkışla, at the point where the Arpaçay and Aras rivers converge, you can see the houses belonging to Armenia. After traveling parallel to the Armenian border for a long time, we visit the Tuzluca Salt Cave , which has salt layers formed about 30 million years ago and has been used since the Hittite period. After our visit to the currently active salt mining site, we take a break at a suitable spot to photograph Mount Ararat, the highest mountain in our country, towering at 5137 meters, accompanied by the Iğdır Plain, referred to as the Çukurova of Eastern Anatolia, nestled between the towering mountains. After the break, we begin to explore the Ishak Pasha Palace in Doğubayazıt, considered the symbolic structure of Eastern Anatolia, with our guide. After touring this magnificent palace with its unique stone-carved monumental doors, which overlooks the entire plain and has 116 rooms, we say we have free time at the Doğubayazıt Smugglers Market. At the designated time, we take our places in the vehicle, see the Solidified Lava Sea at the Tendürek Mountain Pass, make a photo stop and coffee break at Muradiye Waterfall on the Bendi Mahi River, and then we arrive in Van, built on the shores of “the sea” of Lake Van, the largest lake in our country, previously known as “Tuşba” and home to many civilizations. After our guide provides information about the city, we head to our hotel. Dinner and accommodation will be in VAN
